The Romanian towns of Aleşd and Şinteu and the town of Szarvas in Hungary have joined forces in the framework of the Interreg project DIRCCES (Development of an integrated response capacity to cross-border emergency situations).
The local authorities aim to set up an integrated emergency response to crises which are becoming common in the territory: fires in Summer, floods in Spring.
Together, the competent authorities prepared plans to face crises jointly. Through the implementation of common measures, the region will be better prepared to control floods, while the authorities enhance coordination of emergency response services to intervene more effectively in case of disasters.
The project has supplied vehicles, equipment and tools for fire-fighting, flood management, extrication, and enabled better emergency services thanks to cross-border cooperation.
